Building Biking Infrastructure in New Orleans

LPHI’s Division of Media and Communications provided public relations support to The Regional Planning Commission’s Greater New Orleans Pedestrian & Bicycle Program (RPC) to celebrate the official opening of the Wisner Boulevard pedestrian and bicycle trail in New Orleans.

LPHI’s commitment to improving environmental factors that affect health is a driving force behind the partnership with RPC. A well-built walking and biking infrastructure is a proven method that contributes to a reduction in obesity and carbon dioxide emissions and it provides improved safety on the road.

Technical support included the creation of press materials, media relations and orchestration of a ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference at the Wisner Trail.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference brought together multiple partners, local political officials and bike trail enthusiasts.

Public relations efforts garnered media coverage that appeared on four local television news stations, including a Spanish language channel and the story got printed in two major news publications.
