Welcome to the Primary Care Access and Stabilization Grant (PCASG) homepage. The PCASG was awarded to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) and the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) administers the grant program as the local partner of DHH.

PCASG is a $100 million dollar grant program designed to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services in the four-parish Greater New Orleans area (Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes), provide high quality primary and behavioral health care at the community level, and decrease reliance on emergency rooms for conditions more appropriately treated in an outpatient setting.

Twenty-five public and private nonprofit organizations were eligible for funding through the grant, including primary healthcare, mental health treatment and counseling, HIV/AIDS treatment and counseling, and substance abuse treatment providers. The funds help healthcare providers stabilize, improve and expand their services through methods including opening satellite clinics, extending hours of operation and hiring additional qualified medical staff. The participating organizations provide affordable services to everyone, without regard to ability to pay.

The PCASG initiative represents a bridge to a system of care where every citizen has access to high quality and affordable healthcare close to where they live.
