Steering Committee

SHC works with a Steering Committee of health care providers, school officials and other stakeholders to rebuild School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs), achieve a higher standard of care in SBHCs, and identify strategies to ensure the sustainability of SBHCs in the Metro area.

Behavioral Health Subcommitee

SHCs Behavioral Health Subcommittee is comprised of school-based behavioral health providers, school administrators, and other interested organizations located in the New Orleans Metropolitan area. The behavioral health providers offer a wide range of programs and services and this committee serves as venue to share this programmatic information. One of this committees main goals is to match behavioral health resources with schools needs.

Communications, Advocacy, Policy, and Sustainability Subcommittee
~ Communications and Marketing Strategy
~ Branding of SHC
~ Collaborate with LASBHC and NASBHC on advocacy for state and federal funding
~ Researching successful SBHC models to ensure sustainability of beyond Kellogg grant funding

Program Planning, Facilities, and Standards Subcommittee
~ Create a Site Selection Tool to be used for determining new SBHCs funded in the GNO area
~ Ensure quality construction and maintenance of sites
~ Work on Continuous Quality Improvement of clinics and clinical practice

Research, Evaluation, and Health Information Technology Subcommittee
~ Provide guidance and approval of SHC evaluation plan, the Asthma Historical Perspective Cohort Study, and the formation of a Scientific Advisory Board
~ Assist in the selection of EMR software and in the design of the EMR implementation plan
