Communications Practicum Student

Position Summary

This is a non-paid position that will provide a student with the opportunity to fulfill his/her degree requirements. Position will be approximately three months or as necessary to complete university requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current student majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Journalism
  • Excellent communications skills and strong writing skills required
  • Solid understanding of social media required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Knowledge of Meltwater and WordPress preferred

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Websites, social media presences (Facebook & Twitter), e-letters
    • Update The Latest section on lphi.org as submissions are received
    • Update other areas of the sites, as needed
    • Edit website articles and blogs
    • Assist with quarterly organization-wide page update process
    • Post news submissions to LPHI social media presences
    • Research additional social media content
    • Assist with social media monitoring and reporting
    • Assist with development of external e-letters as needed
  • Public Relations Support
    • Review, edit or drafting of various media materials
    • Media contact research and list development
    • Interview preparation materials development
    • Media monitoring
  • Additional Duties
    • Any job function agreed upon by division and intern based on project interest
    • Provide a weekly status sheet of job responsibilities/progress
