School Health and Tobacco Evaluation Coordinator, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion  

Position Summary­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

The School Health and Tobacco Evaluation Coordinator will be responsible for executing evaluation components of federal grants for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (BCDPHP). The Evaluation Coordinator will be assigned to the Office of Public Health, Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and will report to the Well-Ahead Louisiana (WAL) Surveillance and Evaluation Manager. 

This position is full-time and will be located at the Office of Public Health in New Orleans.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or Social Sciences
  • Experience in conducting program evaluation of public health programs
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel within Louisiana

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Evaluation (90%)

  • Provide evaluation support for the Louisiana Tobacco Control program.
  • Provide evaluation support for the Louisiana Healthy Schools and Communities program.
  • Generate process, outcome, sustainability, and/or impact evaluation plans for each grant program.
  • Execute evaluation plans as written in the most current version submitted to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Submit required evaluation deliverables such as evaluation plans, evaluation reports, annual performance reports for grants as outlined in the grant guidance by the due date communicated to BCDPHP by the grant project officers.
  • Disseminate evaluation findings through peer-reviewed journal publications, earned media, or conference presentations at national public health conference meetings.

Grant Writing (5%)

  • Provide Evaluation Support for Grant Applications
  • Participate in grant planning meetings and calls with the BCDPHP as needed for upcoming grant opportunities.
  • Develop evaluation plans to accompany grant applications that meet the requirements outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity.
  • Assess target populations and health disparities as required by the Notice of Funding Opportunity.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Participate in WAL-Surveillance and Evaluation team meetings.
  • Engage in special projects conducted by the WAL-Surveillance and Evaluation team.
  • Engage with visual and data communications staff to create creative, innovative, and accurate ways to illustrate surveillance and evaluation results.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities when available
