Short-term Independent Contractor Position  

Summary of Consultant Opportunity ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) is seeking up to three (3) English Language Qualitative Data Collection & Analysis Consultants. The Qualitative Data Collection & Analysis Consultant will support the creation of study designs, recruitment plans and focus group and interview guides, lead the collection, management, and analysis of qualitative data from focus groups and in-depth interviews, analyze data using qualitative analysis software, and provide concise, written thematic summaries of findings. The Consultant may be invited to build the professional capacity of LPHI staff members to perform qualitative research projects.

Consultant Period of Performance

This is an immediate opportunity beginning in May 2021 and anticipated to go through December 2021, with the potential for extension.

Anticipated Hours

It is anticipated that this project will require 120 hours of work total per Consultant through December 2021, with the majority of work taking place May -September.

Consultant Scope of Work Deliverables

Collection & Analysis of Qualitative Data

  • Provide expertise on qualitative study design and methods to acquire, manage, and analyze primary qualitative data and report results.
  • In collaboration with LPHI team, develop and implement data collection and analysis plans to optimize efficiency and data quality.
  • Collect, record and analyze data for up to 10 focus groups and up to 25 interviews with community members in the Greater New Orleans area.
  • Proactively identify data quality problems and investigate the best course of action to clean data for analysis.

Thematic Summary Writing & Data Visualization 

  • Interpret analysis results and produce concise, rich thematic summaries for project team.
  • Summarize and translate qualitative data for diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, or related field required. PhD preferred.
  • Training and experience in qualitative research and evaluation methods required.
  • Experience with qualitative analysis software required.
  • Familiarity with the Greater New Orleans community (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes) strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on community assessments strongly preferred.
