Flood aftermath bolsters need for more mental health care

Flooding

The Behavioral Health team’s mission is to promote access to trauma-informed behavioral health (mental health, substance abuse), social service, and primary care services that increase community-based behavioral health capacity, and bridge care between primary care, community based services, hospitals, schools, and the criminal justice system. LPHI serves a region that’s resilience has been repeatedly challenged by both natural and man-made disasters. These traumatic events highlight the need for a strong network of physical health, behavioral health, and social services. Recent flooding across the southern part of Louisiana, and resulting media stories, exemplifies this need.
