Highly Competitive USFCA Visiting Professor program selects LPHI’s HIV/STI Director as participant

Topics:
HIV/STI

In 2015, Dr. Russell Brewer, Director of LPHI’s HIV/STI team, was selected to participate in the Visiting Professor (VP) Program at the University of San Francisco, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies.

This highly competitive three-year program selects a small number of researchers to participate in a training program for scientists conducting research to reduce HIV/STI health disparities. The VP Program is designed to assist investigators already conducting HIV-prevention research with populations most impacted by HIV/AIDS in the United States to improve their programs of research and obtain additional funding for their work. As part of this program, Dr. Brewer is building a research and practice portfolio focused on exploring and addressing the multi-level barriers to HIV/STI services among persons living with HIV infection, young Black men and Black men who have sex with men, and correctional populations in the South. This work also aligns with LPHI’s efforts to address disparities in health and health care.
