Background on the Event:
The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) is the state agency that manages and delivers the services and supports necessary to improve the quality of life for citizens with mental illness and addictive disorders. Based on the premise that people who receive proper care and a supportive environment can recover from mental illness and addiction, OBH is dedicated to the development of a competent workforce that is adequately trained and committed to the welfare of the people it serves. This includes ensuring the implementation of behavioral health best practices that are culturally competent, responsive to the changing needs of the service system, and built on a foundation of continuous quality improvement. OBH seeks to improve the general welfare of the citizens of Louisiana through the promotion of behavioral health best practices across the state. To achieve this objective, OBH in partnership with LPHI will host a summit in Baton Rouge during the fall of 2018.
