The Pragmatic Trial App Suite

To overcome barriers to pragmatic research and integrate patient-centered Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) within healthcare delivery systems through the use of health information technology, REACHnet has developed the Pragmatic Trial App Suite (PTAS).

The PTAS is a tablet-, mobile- and web-based software system designed to interact with health system Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to engage patients in clinical research, provide targeted health information and research results, recruit patients for pragmatic trials, and facilitate pragmatic trial management. These functions are administered directly to patients on tablets mounted in examination rooms to minimize workflow disruption to clinical staff. Patients enrolled in the Health in Our Hands Patient Network (HiOH) can also access these functions through mobile and web-based portal applications.

The PTAS benefits researchers with in-clinic recruitment and study management capabilities, and the HiOH network activates patients to be more engaged with the research process.
