The Louisiana Community AIDS Partnership

The Louisiana Community AIDS Partnership (LCAP) was a statewide collaborative convened by LPHI in alliance with AIDS United in 2007. By serving as a connector, LCAP responded to the need for awareness and education to improve the health and quality of life for Louisianans living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The primary component of LCAP was the Challenge Grant program. Local dollars were raised each year and matched with national funds from AIDS United and the Elton John AIDS Foundation to support HIV education and prevention efforts in the state.

Over the course of four grant periods, spanning 2007 – 2012, LCAP was privileged to award more than $500,000 to at least 20 community-based organizations throughout Louisiana. These funds enabled grantees to educate their communities about HIV/AIDS and the importance of testing; to conduct evidence-based and innovative HIV prevention interventions; to provide care and needed support for persons living with HIV infection; and to reduce the stigma and discrimination often associated with HIV/AIDS.
